Drop shipping companies with “free trials” are a scam

March 28, 2010

First off their is no such thing as a free trial to a drop shipping company.

In the world of drop shipping their are 3 options.
1. Free!

2.Free!

3.One time payment to access suppliers/ drop ship directories.

Real drop shippers do not have monthly fees! Never have never will.

Here’s how their newest trick works. As a consumer trying to get started looking for supplier options you start using the search engines and you see a nice little pay per click ad saying “Free trial ” so you as the consumer decide to give it a try. Why not it’s free huh?  Unfortunately for you most of these companies are not legitimate, or they are middle men as a real supplier would never charge you a fee in the first place, so they will charge your credit card after the so called free trial ends regardless of you trying to cancel.

In our last post we touched briefly on this by saying:

“The worst is the so called drop shipping companies that promise a free trial but in order to access it you must give them a credit card first. Once these guys have your card number they will charge you no matter how soon you cancel. I have seen people lose thousands, and once you pay their is no way to get your money back. Even if you do a charge back with your credit card provider it can still take months and their is no guarantee.”
It seems this so called free trial scam is still going, and growing daily so we have decided to create a checklist on how to avoid these things for our readers!

A few things to take note of when deciding who to get involved with a drop shipping company online.
1. Do they need your credit card before their so called free trial starts. This is an instant red flag if it’s free why should you give them a credit card number?

2. Do they use a professional payment processor? This is very important you do not want to give your credit card information to anyone unless they use Pay Pal, or Google checkout. If you do you are risking losing more than you know. We have spoke with countless people who have lost 100′s and even 1000′s of dollars to stolen credit card numbers. Because if they are not using a trusted payment processor odds are you just gave your credit card info to some 16 yr old sitting at a cubicle in Fla who is now off to enjoy the night! Always use a trusted payment solution, If a company does not have  does not have a trusted payment processor their is a reason why.

3. Read  drop shipping reviews, and make sure they are real reviews and not affiliate links (see posts below)

4. Real drop shippers do not have monthly fees only middlemen ! So what are you wasting you time for anyways you can never truly make a profit with a middleman!!

5.  To summarize this real drop shipping companies do not have fees, and their are 1000s of real suppliers online that you can make a great profit with! You can save yourself a ton of time, and trouble by signing up with a real drop shipping community like The Power Sellers Union or World Wide Brands where you will have access to 1000′s of real free suppliers!

While both of these communities do have  a small one time fee, their advantages are tremendous, the suppliers are pre screened, and you will not have to worry about sifting through 1000′s of scammers to finally find one good supplier!

Dropshipping reviews and multiple drop shipping companies

July 5, 2009
By

A while back one of our readers sent me an email and we had a very nice phone conversation as well about multiple sites and scams. Our main priority is drop shipping reviews, and online internet service providers however it seems a few of them are setting up multiple drop ship sites in order to cross refer the people they have already scammed. Here’s the basics of how it works. The consumer which is you signs up for one of these fake dropshipping companies and you figure out hey I can’t make any money here so you cancel your subscription to dropshipping company #1. Then a couple days later you receive a phone call, or an email from a “different” dropshipping company.

The new company tells you everything you want to hear, you check out their website and sign up with them. What you don’t know is the second company is actually the exact same company you left in the first place, and they are just going under a different website. So now you have been scammed by the exact same place twice.

“These multiple dropship schemes are more than a problem they’re an epidemic that is set on trying to destroy any chances of an average person making it in the world of ecommerce.” Says Pete furlong internet security specialist. “People are being suckered into these schemes left and right thinking they are getting a great deal without even checking for a drop shipping review. The worst is the so called dropshipping companies that promise a free trial but in order to access it you must give them a credit card first. Once these guys have your card number they will charge you no matter how soon you cancel. I have seen people lose thousands and once you pay their is no way to get your money back. Even if you do a charge back with your credit card provider it can still take months and their is no guarantee.”

If you think dropshipping is bad they are also branching out to different sectors of ecommerce like website design. Harold smith of ecommerce website design (which we highly recommend) states. ” I have seen people pay up to $6000.00 for an ecommerce website to some of these companies and we build the exact same ones for our clients daily for $350.00. An ecommerce website is easy to build . These companies have these people believing that this is the norm and it is far from it.” To top off the $6000.00 website that they just suckered some poor soul out of then they charge $20-30 dollars a month to have the website hosted which is absurd. Hosting at the most should be about six to twelve dollars a month.”

People who don’t check for drop shipping reviews or check to find out about a companies reputation are being cheated and scammed out of their hard earned money everyday and it is just not fair. That is why we have decided to offer more than drop shipping reviews and we are also going to branch out into other parts of ecommerce.

Their comes a time when enough is enough ecommerce is a great venture that can help people to change their lives and it should be positive, and not on the course that it is on today. When a person who is wanting to better them self by starting a business to help their family can not do so because of some crooks and thieves their is a huge problem. These people don’t deserve to get cheated and tricked out of their money .

Things to look for when choosing from dropshipping companies or ecommerce providerers.

1.The age of the company. What some companies will do is sign up with the Better business bureau but when they fill out the application they will tell the better business bureau that they have been in business for 5-10 years. Usually you can remedy this by doing a Who is and checking the age of their website. 99% of online companies that offer you a directory, a website, or any type of online business are as old as their website. Use common sense as well and think about it . How is a website that only offers online services going to be in business without a website ?

2. The copy right on the website. If the website says copyright 1999 but the site was put online in 2008 it is a fraud. Some fake companies put an older copy right on their website to make it look more distinguished.

3. The location. If you just lost $500.00 to a scammer from Nashville Tennessee. Don’t buy anything else from any other providers in that area. Odds are they are all tied in to the exact same circle of scammers.

4. Compare prices. When you go shopping for a new car or house you don’t just go buy the first one you see without comparing prices, warranty, mileage ect . Well it is the exact same thing when starting a business. Look at what everyone has to offer because believe me when it comes to the internet the highest never means the best.

5. Common sense. Although I hate to say this 90% of all scams can be stopped by simply taking the time to investigate the company and having a little bit of common sense. Research everything before you buy it and in the long run you will be better off. Always remember this if you don’t know something ask. Their are plenty of free ways to do research on any type of subject online. One of my favorite things to do is to go to a forum and post questions. I learned more at Dani web forum in 3 months than any place could ever “teach” me but only because I took the time to ask .

In closing if you can’t find your answer in any forum send us an email and we will try to help. More drop shipping reviews to come.

Real drop shipping review or just an affiliate link

June 21, 2009
By

When we started this blog we wanted to create a site free from affiliate links as their are a ton of so called drop shipping reviews posted all over the internet  most of these drop shipping review sites have 3 or 4 different companies listed and they will give a bad comparison and basically tell you they are all good but just for different purposes .  Usually the one who pays the affiliate the most is the one that is ranked the highest .

This is how you can always tell if your reading something truthful , or just another affiliate trying to make a sell . In case you don’t know an affiliate is basically an online salesman they put links out all over the internet and try to sell you a product, or service.  Take your curser and hold it over this link  Drop shipping reviews now if your using firefox you should be able to look in the bottom left hand corner of your  screen and you will see it is a direct link to this website .  If it is a direct link it will almost always appear that away .  If it is an affiliate link it will have a series of numbers after the url .

This is basically the same with every type of online affiliate link not just the drop shipping ones . Their are many other ways to tell but these are the basics . Please don’t get me wrong though I have nothing against affiliates as their are a ton of honest good people that I am friends with who are affiliates , but I do not like the ones who trick unsuspecting good people into signing up for something bogus .

Oh and by the way .  If your not using firefox you should be .

Wholesale suppliers exposed

May 24, 2009
By

Welcome to The Drop shipping reviewer. We would like to first off thank you for stopping by.  We were established to give true and informative reviews on  drop shipping companies, wholesale suppliers, liquidators, China drop shippers, e-commerce website design firms, SEO companies, and e-commerce sites like eBay, Bonanzle, and Amazon. We are not affiliates nor do we post any affiliate links.

We are merely honest merchants and consumers that are tired of the SCAMS! We intend on hunting down posting and calling out all the fake companies, and giving praise to the ones who work so hard to keep e-commerce honest and profitable for you. We will give you our honest opinion as that is really what a drop shipping review is . We do not use any affiliate links at all which is what separates us from some of the other drop shipper  review sites online.

We want to start this blog with a little bit about what drop shipping reviews and e-commerce is and how to safely get started as we feel that one of the biggest scams comes merely from people not being educated enough before they jump into this. Drop shipping started a long time before the internet, it has actually been around for years I remember 20 years ago coming home from school selling the trinkets, candy, and books that the school would set us up with and the kid who sold the most would get a jam box or a new bicycle. I never did win that bike. I always got the plastic bracelets, or bouncy balls that I would lose in a day or so. That was my first real experience with drop shipping.

Also my grandma sold Avon and stuff like that as well. The thing is back then it was safe people made money kids got candy, the Avon lady always had make up and wore a ton of it and that was what drop shipping was in the 80′s along with SMC and places like Fingerhut.

E-commerce started and the two actually made a great fit. See what a lot of people don’t know or remember is that the people in the e-commerce business in the
early days were a really big family. People helping people we were all new and we all needed help.

When selling products online really took off drop shipping was a way of life. It went with e-commerce like peanut butter and jelly and if you needed help you could
even ask your competitors and get help.

Those days are far behind us now, and a lot of good memories have passed and out of it e-commerce has  become a entity of its own. The only problem is it has become polluted with scammers mostly middlemen who pretend to be real wholesale suppliers until you see their products.

An e-commerce today is basically ran one of 2 ways one a person buys a ton of products stores them in a warehouse and ships them out to the customers, or a person goes to a wholesale supplier  and sets up an account with them, and the wholesale company then drop ships the product to the persons customer.

Most of us don’t have the over head to purchase a warehouse so option two comes in to play. Drop shipping products from a real wholesale supplier can be very beneficial and lucrative if done in a correct manor. The most important thing to remember is that in order to do start an e-commerce business and be successful you can not cut any corners or you will just wind up another statistic.  Their are a few simple rules to follow as well.

The first thing you should know is a wholesale supplier  should not charge you a drop shipping fee. That is just their way to take more of your income. Do they deserve it ? No your the one working yourself to death to sell their products trying to make money on eBay, or your own website.

Second The only time you should ever pay anything to a drop shipper before seeing their products is if you join a drop ship directory/community.
Their is only two that we really recommend one is World wide brands, the other www.thepowersellersunion.com.

We fully support both of those companies and you can read their reviews for yourself and see why. I have had tons of people ask me why they should sign up with a drop ship directory and the main reason is security. Their websites are verified and true wholesale suppliers. The other reason is what if the item you are selling stops being profitable, wouldn’t the smart thing to do be to have other products and suppliers already lined up?

Their are 1000s of scams online, and if it seems too good to be true it usually is. Please be careful when deciding what you want to do as you are making a decision that can affect your future. I have seen great successes and I have seen people lose thousands. When determining what company you want to use to get started do it with your mind and not your heart.

What people don’t understand is that even the websites with the Better Business Bureau logo on it are not safe. Most of those BBB pics are just copied and pasted on to a scammers website anyway and you can never tell the difference. Not to mention the BBB is a corporation you pay them money they list you. They are also very expensive. Do you think they really want to lose a $2000.00 payment because a merchant is mad that his site has bad marks on it ? I don’t think so. I am not saying they are bad either but if you see one of those BBB links at least click on it, and if nothing happens its a fake.

So unless you want to gamble with your money sign up with one of those guys and you will never look for another drop shipping company or wholesale supplier again.
Their are other options and you can read them in our drop shipping reviews as well. As always if you need a site reviewed our email is dropshippingreviewer@hotmail.com.
